omg i'm literally reading under the whispering door right now!! tj klune is quickly becoming one of my favourite authors, if you enjoy under the whispering door when you read it you'd definitely love the house on the cerulean sea! i love the way that klune explores characters and relationships and settings in relation to each other, and the writing style is absolutely gorgeous (to match the pretty covers !!) good luck with your tbr this month!

Piranesi was such a weird but fun read. it’s definitely a bit confusing off the start but that’s because the main character doesn’t know anymore when we know about his situation lol

HIGHLY recommend the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson! Lots of magic (that's almost scientific?) with beautiful and detailed world building, lots of politics, and romance. If you want something with less politics, more romance and fantasty-- Tress of the Emerald Sea also by him!

Absolutely no hate here, but does anyone have recommendations for creators who primarily read lit fic or dystopians? I find that majority of book tubers are reading romance and fantasy…just Not my thing

As you enjoyed Before You Knew My Name you might also like Bright Young Women. It fictionalises the events and lives of several women who were impacted by a well-known American serial killer. The book never mentions the killer's name and instead focuses on the women, to counteract society's tendency to glorify serial killers and forget the victims. It was a tough read (triggers should be checked) but incredibly interesting and poignant.

Gurl this is motivating me to read more so far I have finished 1 book this year...however bought lets say a few more books. Also why was I surpriced that the first books author had a finnish lastname...had a google but she herself wasn't actually form finland rather one of her parents. I watched your reading vlog and got Beartown and Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine the next day (Harriet’s officially a bookfluencer!). Absolutely loved Beartown - The characters were just so real and believable and I loved the simple, funny, sensitive writing style. Please let us know what Us Against Them is like. This was goddamn HILARIOUS! I ugly laughed the whole way through, and I actually lost it at the bit when you sang 'I think I like this little life.' At first I didn't want it to end, but I actually couldn't take anymore mentionings of sex scenes, and the condition at the end, like do we need to do a mental health check on the author or...???

I picked up Beartown because of your last video talking about it and I'm 300 pages in - it will be the first fiction novel I have finished since high school (High school made me hate reading), so thank you for that! The book is amazing. Definitely a tough read, but as someone who is from a small rural Australian town, it actually hits pretty hard for me - especially since we also have the divide in wealth based on where you live (certain area of our town would be considered "The Hollows" for instance).

If you want to read more sci-fi books, I would recommend The Martian by Andy Weir! The main character is trapped on Mars and needs to survive, and his coping mechanism is humor. It's SO funny but also the story is very well thought out!
